The Qur’an has been translated into almost every language in the world amounting to over 65 translations; the Qur’an is yet to be translated into BSL.
British Sign Language is the first language of the British Deaf community.
It is incomprehensible that the Qur’an, which Allah has sent down for the entirety of mankind, be unavailable to a community of people, simply because of a language barrier!
After all the Qur’an is “.. a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of guidance and criterion” (2:185).
By the grace of Allah, Al Isharah has embarked on a journey to translate the first-ever Qur’an into British Sign Language.
This is a translation project that will see the Quran being translated from Arabic, directly into BSL.
We have a dedicated team that consists of BSL Interpreters, BSL linguists, Arabic linguists, scholars, Deaf consultants and a focus group.
This is a monumental project that goes through several scrutiny processes to ensure we have the best quality translation.
