Islamic Weekend School for Deaf Children

Our school dedicated to deaf and hard of hearing children to learn about Islam through the use of deaf friendly resources.

Al Isharah provides a dedicated weekend Islamic School for Deaf children.

Islamic resources are not available for Deaf children in British Sign Language.

We have a dedicated team of BSL users and people trained to educate Deaf and hard of hearing children.

We have two ways in which we deliver our teaching to the children:

Al Isharah Islamic School: BSL

The Al Isharah Islamic School (AIS) offers Deaf children the unique opportunity to learn about Islam through classes in British Sign Language.

Al Isharah has devised a specialised curriculum to ensure Deaf children are able to learn about the fundamental tenets of faith.

Such classes are essential to the development of Deaf children who often grow up alienated from Islam, due to language barriers.

Al Isharah Islamic School: Oral

The Al Isharah Islamic School (AIS) Oral classes offer mildly to moderately deaf children the unique opportunity to learn about Islam using visual aids and speech therapy techniques.

Al Isharah has devised a specialised curriculum to ensure Deaf children are able to learn about the fundamental tenets of faith.

Children are also taught how to recite the Qur’an.

Such classes are essential to the development of Deaf children who often grow up alienated from Islam, due to language barriers.

We currently have branches at Birmingham, Redbridge, Luton and Whitechapel and an Online Provision.
