BSL Level 3


Courses start this 23rd October and will be 30 weeks long, following the term time (with a few exceptions) for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

A range of topics will be taught including how to communicate when meeting people, using numbers, weather, conversational BSL at home, getting around at work or in college.

Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL) caters for the learning needs of those who already have competence in BSL at Level 2. Successful learners must be able to demonstrate competence at Level 3 of the UK Occupational Language Standards (CILT, 2010). This means that the learner will be able to understand and use varied BSL in a range of work and social situations.

Units in Level 3:

  • BSL320: Sign Linguistics Knowledge
  • BSL321: Understand varied British Sign Language in a range of work and social situations
  • BSL322:  Use varied signs British Sign Language in a range of work and social situations


All assessments are class based and will take place during class times.

Entry requirements

You will be assessed before beginning the course. You must have the ability to communicate at this level or have a level 2 qualification

Time and Days

It is currently scheduled to take place on Tuesday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm


Classes will take place in Whitechapel.
